ZT’s Lil’ Bit Midge Red and Silver Tinsel Size 18
I started tying a midge on a jigged hook in small sizes a couple of years ago and I fished them all over the place with success. When I saw Zack’s midge it was one of those moments when a light bulb turns on inside your mind. It uses tinsel rather than wire to generate the segmentations in the body of the midge. By adding a simple small pearl Flashabou tag hanging from the rear of the midge, sent this pattern over the edge. We carry only the top three colors: black/silver, red/silver and gray/pearl. The red and black midges can be fished deep underneath and indicator. The gray should be fished higher in the water column.
The Red and Silver Lil’ Bit is a great fly at Baum Lake. My go to fly there. It’s a must if you are fishing Baum!
