Learning these secrets will produce more fish and generate a greater understanding of the sport of fly fishing.

Soft Hackle flies are among the oldest known flies that fly fishers have fished for over a century. They are just soft hackles. The feathers we use for the hackles on these flies are flexible, swimming, webbing, and very pliable. We use feathers such as partridge, pheasant, CDC, and others to create these fish-catching flies. Tied to imitate everything from mayflies to baitfish imitations.

While many fly fishers are adept at high-sticking a nymph or drifting a Royal Wulff in pocket water, soft hackle fishing offers a more comprehensive approach. It's a collective technique incorporating all others, using dead drift and swinging tactics to provoke big fish into striking. Once mastered, this practical and effective art provides another powerful tool for any intermediate angler.
