Lower Sacramento Tour

Northern California Waters - Redding, CA

Since Lance Gray & Company introduced the “Fly Fishing Tours”— guided trips for fly fishers who wanted to learn more about particular fisheries, species, or styles of fly fishing in Northern California, we’ve had over 850 fly-fishers in the Tour Program.

Kirsten and I are proud to offer fly fisher these special tours. We focus on all aspects of fly fishing, from Lake Almanor Hex Hatch to chasing steelhead in the Sacramento Valley rivers to fishing high mountain lakes.

They are just a unique way to bring you, our guest, a valued experience based on what you have come to expect from Lance Gray & Company.

The tours are designed for anglers who want to expand their knowledge of access points, hatches, flies, rigging, and needed equipment to gain confidence, develop skills, and log valuable experience while being directed through the process.

If you’re ready to dramatically shorten the learning curve for anglers who want to fish these waters independently, sign up for a tour this season!

Lower Sacramento Tour

The “Lower Sac” is genuinely a fantastic wild trout fishery. The wild trout thrive in the cold water that flows from the bottom of Shasta Dam. The fishery is terrific, leaving many smiles on angler’s faces and lasting fond memories.

It’s a place where anglers can explore a variety of fishing techniques, from swinging to dead drifting nymphs or fishing a dry. This river rewards anglers for their dedication and hard work, making it a place to fish and fish.

We will explore the river, look at access and boat launch areas, and discuss the best times to walk and wade in the Lower Sac. The tour will cover the river from the Posse Grounds in downtown Redding, California, to the Deschutes River Bridge below Anderson, California. This stretch of the river offers excellent access for fly fishers to explore and fish!
