Fox's Swinging Poopah Olive Size 14
I designed this fly right off of Tim Fox’s Poopah. I have no shame – I just tied it on a ring eye longer shank hook with a slight hump built into it. It’s the Firehole 718 hook model. These Poopahs have become a great fly to swing on a trout spey on the valley rivers. I have fished this fly on the Lower Sacramento River with great success. I fish these Poopahs on long 9-to-12-foot 4X fluorocarbon tapered leaders on a floating fly line.
The Swinging Olive Poopah is tied to represent the Brachycentrus Caddis. I swing this fly in the spring and early summer months.
