Deer Creek

Tehama, CA

The Cascades and the Sierra Mountains overlook the gin clear creek with Eagles and Osprey flying in its footprint.

Deer Creek is located at the junction of the Junction of California State Highway 36 and California State Highway 32. The creek main spring feed tributaries come from the foot of Mount Lassen. It’s a gorgeous mountain creek that holds wild Rainbow and Brown Trout. It also has places that the California Department of Fish and Wildlife stocks.

The creek is a great place for fly fishers looking for willing fish or just sharpening their nymphing or dry fly skills. The creek has a ton of entomology from mayflies, Caddis and stoneflies. The fish eat well on the creek and wild fish will reach into the 14” length.

This is my grandfather’s creek. I grew up fishing it and I love showing the creek to new and old fly fishers alike.
